Virgin

Islands

Weather historians tell us August is the sunniest month of the year in the U.S. Virgin Islands — a great time to enjoy the tropics!

Technically the warmest month, average daily temperatures range in the mid-to-high 80s. The good news is that trade winds help to keep the islands breezy and comfortable. Also the driest time of year, unless a tropical front comes through, rainfall in August usually is limited to brief sun showers.

Residents refer to the northern section of St. Thomas as “The Cool Northside.” Happily, Flamboyan On The Bay Resort & Villas is located on the north side of the island — just a half mile from spectacular Magens Bay. Adding to the resort’s geographic appeal are summertime off-season rates. What a perfect place to enjoy “Summer’s Last Splash” — and save money!

In this issue of the Coconut Post, the spotlight is on dining by the sea in paradise. A perfect spot to enjoy breakfast, lunch, or dinner is Hook’d in American Yacht Harbor. Established in December of 2020, the ambience is light, airy — and fun.

General manager Taylor Sanders and the staff are at your service with a creative American/ Caribbean menu and extensive drink list. Desserts are luscious, too. While at Hook’d, be sure to check out proprietor John Parr’s signature Seafood Soup. Delicious!

Are you traveling to St. Thomas with a new baby or toddler? Calabash Baby Gear Rental makes vacationing easier than ever before. The unique island enterprise offers quality items for rent ranging from portable cribs to car seats to beach toys and accessories.

Said proprietor Natasha Quetel, “We are happy to provide your little travelers with the same luxuries that they have at home – while away from home – in the beautiful Virgin Islands! We can deliver and set up everything for you.”

Another island business designed to ease travel stress is The Smoke Shack. Conveniently located at the Cyril E. King Airport, at The Smoke Shack, you can wait ’til the very last minute before heading home to save on cigars, cigarettes, and vape products.

Whether you are on island in August for a day, a week or the entire month, enjoy “Summer’s Last Splash.”
