Traditionally, the beginning of every calendar year is met with familiar quotes such as, “Out with the old. In with the new.”

Considering all that’s been happening to disrupt everyday life across the globe since late 2019, that phrase seems more intensely hopeful than its original intent — a champagne-laced slogan of good cheer.

Regardless, looking back on 2021, one positive aspect for many people is that neighbors have become friends and dear friends are now elevated to “extended family.” With that in mind, the staff and management at Flamboyan Resort wish to express heartfelt gratitude to our many loyal guests for their ongoing support.

Despite unprecedented challenges, the resort continues moving forward with renovations and improvements. In fact, we’ve received many upbeat messages including an email from Lee and Jim Duncan who wrote, in part, “Y’all are doing such a great job…this has been our best visit since 1991 and we will be spreading the word!”

In this issue, Coconut Post is spreading the word about 88 Bottles, an exciting new wine and gourmet boutique in the heart of downtown Charlotte Amalie. Housed within the walls of Artistic Jewelers, established in 1977, the unique enterprise reflects a spirit of creativity and renewed energy. In the feature article, you will meet a team of dedicated visionaries responsible for 88 Bottles — including award-winning executive chef Deven Sadarangani.

What would our first publication of the New Year be without references to personal resolutions? For many, developing healthier eating habits is tops on that list, so here’s good news: Northside Grind at Flamboyan Resort features freshly-made taste treats every day of the week including Smoothie bowls and custom Smoothies. In this issue of Coconut Post, you’ll also read about the addition of chef-inspired gourmet salads available in the grab ’n go cooler.

Whether you are on island for a day, week, month, or a lifetime, everyone at Flamboyan Resort and the Coconut Post wants to take this opportunity to wish you a “Healthy and Happy 2022.” Cheers!
