A BIT ABOUT
APRIL 1917 IN THE V.I.
On March 31, 1917, the Danish West Indies were formally ceded to the United States by Denmark, consequently becoming the U.S. Virgin Islands.
April 1917 was the very first month the American flag flew in the newly minted U.S. territory.
“Take RooT” wherever you go…
New logo merchandise now in stock at RooT 42.
The wait is over. Great looking RooT 42 signature gear is here at Flamboyan’s on-premise restaurant.
For those unfamiliar with the story behind its name, ROOT is an acronym: Risen Out Of Tragedy. After the restaurant’s structure was decimated by Hurricanes Irma and Maria in 2017, new owner, Brian Cox, cleverly renamed the eatery with a bow to its local roots, location on Route 42, and ongoing revitalizations after the storms.
Over the last four years, the restaurant has evolved from a safe haven for hungry hurricane survivors into a popular lunch, dinner, Sunday brunch, and Happy Hour gathering spot. Seating is available poolside, in the sports lounge, and by special reservation in an air-conditioned wine bar.
When signature T-shirts worn by the staff were first made available to restaurant patrons, they sold out quickly.
The good news is, brand new logo merchandise is back in stock with more styles and selections than ever before.
Said restaurant manager, Jamie Walthall, “We have a rainbow of color choices available.” Jamie advised that signature Tank Tops and T-Shirts are $25; Rash Guards and Tumblers are $30 each.
At RooT 42, menu selections include fresh salads, burgers, sandwiches, paninis, flatbread pizza, chicken parmesan, country fried meatloaf, jerk chicken and pasta dishes. Nightly specials feature chef’s choice tacos plus a meat and seafood entree. Be sure to save room for dessert.
