As they say, “Everyone is Irish on St. Patrick’s Day.” If you are on St. Thomas March 17, lucky you! It’s time to celebrate.

Festivities at RooT 42 Bar & Grill are guaranteed to be fun. You’ll enjoy food and drink specials — including a traditional Irish menu featuring classic corned beef ’n cabbage. 

All during March, be sure to check out the Tullamore D.E.W. “Shot For Shot Glass” giveaway. Take a shot of this popular Irish whiskey at RooT 42 anytime from 11a.m. to 3 p.m. or 6 to 10 p.m. Pay just $5. You get a free keepsake shot glass.

In addition to the brand logo, each quality ceramic shot glass features a festive quote: “Enjoying our smooth sweet whiskey with the hoppy taste of beer is a classic Irish Tradition.”

Every day of the week from 3 to 6 p.m., RooT 42 celebrates Happy Hour with specials such as a choice of well drinks, Budweiser, Bud Light or Miller Light beer for just $3. 

At RooT 42, menu selections include fresh salads, burgers, sandwiches, paninis, flatbread pizza, chicken parmesan, country fried meatloaf, jerk chicken and pasta dishes. Nightly specials feature chef’s choice tacos plus a meat and seafood entree. Be sure to save room for dessert. Tasty selections vary daily.

SPOTLIGHTING THE LATE CYRIL E. KING (1921- 1978)

Cyril Emmanuel King was born on St. Croix in 1921. In 1949 he was appointed as an aide to Senator Hubert Humphrey of Minnesota, becoming the first African American to serve in the office of a U.S. senator. He was elected to the Virgin Islands Senate in 1972. In 1974, King was elected Governor of the U.S. Virgin Islands. He died in office in 1978. In 1984, the Harry S. Truman Airport was renamed Cyril E. King Airport by the Virgin Islands Legislature.
